Honda Sensing reads the road through the top of your windscreen.
Honda has fitted its Sensing suite widely since the mid-2010s, and on current models the whole system depends on a single camera mounted at the top of the windscreen. Replace the glass and that camera is looking through a new piece of laminate at a slightly different angle.
Collision mitigation braking, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation and adaptive cruise all draw on that one camera. Left uncalibrated it can read distances slightly off, which shows up as late or over-eager intervention — not a fault you want to discover in traffic on Parramatta Road.
Earlier Hondas paired the camera with a radar unit behind the front grille. The radar isn't disturbed by glass work, but the camera still is, so calibration remains part of the job on those cars too.
Honda Sensing relies on a camera reading the road through your windscreen. We recalibrate it as part of the replacement, using Hella, Autel and TEXA equipment, and give you the report.
