A Golf with the wrong glass stops sounding like a Golf.
Volkswagen fits acoustic laminated glass across a good part of its range, and it's a large part of why a Golf or Tiguan feels more solid at 100km/h than the price suggests. Replace it with plain laminated glass and the car is safe but audibly cheaper.
IQ.DRIVE bundles Front Assist, Lane Assist and adaptive cruise, all fed by a camera behind the rear-view mirror. As with every camera-based system, replacing the glass moves its reference point and calibration has to follow.
